when I was driving to work this morning, I kept thinking, "we are really now in the groove of Summer!" Nashville has a 30% chance of rain daily, but lately, it's been like mirage-hot. plus the 4th is just around the corner, and I bought a bunch of new tank tops. all of these things together are making me feel really Summer-y. and I don't hate it!

other things that make me feel Summery: outfits made up of three pieces or less. most mornings I am running out the door and styling an outfit that I hope will work out. these days, I love pairing a dress + sandals together and calling it a day! I have to remind myself that simple is ok, simple doesn't look like I'm just not trying, and also: "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." - Leonardo da Vinci
I posted about wanting some California jewelry forever ago! this necklace was a gift from my sister.
this outfit is made of old, well-loved, no-fail items. this dress has been one of my favorites since I bought it, nearly five years ago! the cut and color are perfect, and always a great last-minute decision.
I originally purchased these shoes my Senior year of high school. I wore a Grecian style dress (that I loved!) to our Spring formal, and opted for really casual sandals that I could wear and wear again. success! also Summery: toe ring. this one makes an appearance for a few months every year.
I wore this last week, when Hunter & I went to dinner at Sopapilla's, a fusion-Mexican place we'd driven by a million times but never been to.
the food was awesome, (I had a dish called Enchiladas de Mar) the patio lovely, and I had possibly the best on the rocks Margarita I'd ever had! we will definitely be back. more than anything, it was a really lovely night to hang with Huntee, who had just returned from vacation. this past weekend we had a great balance of going out + staying in, and I'm looking forward to more super-casual evenings like that this Summer.
I hope everyone is having a nice short week, with the promise of a holiday weekend to come! I'm off to shower off this post-lunch-workout grime, and spend a couple hours at home before meeting some friends at a pizza place. yay Summer nights!

Sounds like a pretty perfect night out and you look perfectly pretty too in that gorgeous blue dress (groan at my awful puns… sorry couldn't resist). I've got a few five years old plus failsafe items, my wardrobe is like formed around them basically! XXX
This does look summer fun and how smart you were to get shoes you could wear over and over instead of just the once.
Blue is a cute color on you and I love those metallic sandals! I like the idea of summer (warm, breezy, relaxed days by the pool or at the park), but then the reality hits (hot and sticky and gross and I'm at work all day), and I realize that I like fall better lol!

That is like the PERFECT t-shirt dress!! That color just looks amazing on you and bonus points for the comfort level! Those sandals were a great choice. The look fantastic with that dress! Yay for Huntee returning! :)
Fall is my favorite HANDS DOWN! but after how long and cold this Winter was, the heat has been quite welcome!
no no, clothing puns are THE jam for a blogger!
thank you! it's already a few years old and Old Navy quality, so the color is fading, but I'll wear it as long as I can!!
