For the first time in the ~7ish years that I’ve owned this blazer (and about as many styling attempts on the blog), I think I actually like it. This is some mixed messaging (should you keep a piece of clothing for that long if you really don’t like it that much?!) but I think I just wasn’t styling it the right way. I’m unfortunately pretty small up top, except for my shoulders/upper arms, that usually feel too tight in fitted blazers and button-ups. As you can tell, this blazer is more of a “boyfriend style”, so it’s not too tight (awesome!) but I can also end up looking like I’m swimming in it. After years of trial and error…I am SUPER into pairing it with a fitted high-waist. It’s nothing crazy and I can’t believe it took me so long to figure it out! It’s the perfect silhouette for me! I’ve now been throwing it on over anything high-waisted, just to try it out.
Even threw it in my suitcase last week for San Francisco. I am embarrassingly, extremely into “theme-y looks”, and I figured “can’t go on a business trip without my blazer!” Can’t take me anywhere!!
Aren't these heels the BEST?! I found them at Zara in Mexico City. Block heels forever.
Oh yes, belated greetings from the rainy, foggy, enchanting, and wonderful City by the Bay, San Francisco, where I was working last week! I alluded to a “secret small goal” that I promised was legit - it was surprising my bff, Steph, at her birthday party on Saturday!! Mission accomplished. There was no crying, screaming, or fainting, unfortunately, but it was still totally worth it!
I flew into the Bay Area on Saturday morning (which, I couldn’t give away on the blog, but it made for such a crazy end to a busy week!), stopped in San Diego for lunch with Sundar, “hung out” with my mom for a few hours (I’ll be honest, I was asleep) and then commenced Operation: Cats in Here for Steph. It was so fun to just casually be at my friend’s birthday party (I miss out on things that like constantly being in Nashville!)
Sunday I got to spend a couple hours with Katie, did a brutal long run with Amir, my hero, and on Sunday night we had a belated birthday dinner for the twins in the city, and it was perfect. I’m always happy to spend some time in the Bay Area, and it was such a a great week (work wise, too, it was a lovely change of pace in a new space with new faces too!)
I also got my hair cut! You probably can’t even tell, because it’s nothing major- just a freshening up of my ends and layers. I am feeling considerably lighter!
I'm feeling pretty worn out after a busy week, training for this RACE, and frantically getting ready for my mom to be in town this weekend! Looking forward to a chill cozy weekend snuggling with her. TTYS!
