July Boxycharm Review

Well hello! It's that special day of the month where I share my Boxycharm goodies on the blog.

What's Boxycharm, you say? Truly the best subscription service on the market - $20/month for 5++ full-sized beauty products. Every single month, the retail value of one item covers the price of the box (e.g. if I purchased the Farmacy mask from Sephora, I'd be down $38. Boom.) I'm not sure how they do it but I'm not asking questions!! Check out my past Boxycharm reviews here.

[They're doing a pretty awesome promo this month where you get a FREE Becca Cosmetics Highlighter for signing up {$38 value, and honestly an amazing product!}]

July's theme was "Roadtrippin'" #relevantcontent, although, now that I think about it, I don't really wear any make-up when I'm on a road-trip? Anyway, here are my spoils from July:
Priya the Blog, Nashville beauty blog, Nashville beauty blogger, Boxycharm July 2018 review, beauty buzz, Boxycharm, Crown Brush, Crown Brush Fuego Eyeshadow Palette, Farmacy Beauty, Farmacy Beauty Bright On Mask, Note Cosmetics Luminous Silk Compact Blusher, Note Cosmetics, Chella Beauty, Chella Beauty Eyebrow Creme, Wander Beauty, Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume & Curl Mascara, subscription box,
+ Crown Brush Fuego Eyeshadow Palette | retail value: $29.99
I think this palette is great all around - I did a full blown smoky eye for a party this past weekend, but it works just as well for an everyday look. The second shade from the top is what transition shade dreams are made of, and the shimmers are reallllly creamy and gorgeous. I've been living out of a travel make-up bag, and this has really done the trick!

+ Farmacy Beauty - Bright on Mask | retail value: $38
Ideally I do a face mask once a week, so I always appreciate receiving them! My bf & I tried this the other night while Indiana Jones was paused. This is a color-changing clay mask that is activated when you rub it in (I don't think I really did it right.) Still, it definitely left me feeling fresh-faced. I'm looking forward to trying this again.

+ Note Cosmetics Luminous Silk Compact Blusher in Desert Rose | retail value: $11.99
A neutral dusty blush has been my go-to for a while now. Wet n Wild Mellow Wine is my bread & butter and I think this will be a nice alternative to try out. It's super pigmented, so you do have to be careful there! This compact also feels nice and solid and comes with a mirror and a brush.

+ Chella Beauty - Eyebrow Cremé in Tantalizing Taupe | retail value: $26
This product is like the perfect marriage of an eyebrow powder and an eyebrow pencil (I suppose the correct term is pomade?) I like this a lot - it's been so handy to have the brush AND product in one tube. I also find the small angled brush to be the perfect size for application and shaping. Would definitely recommend this if you're searching for your perfect brow.

This is random but this mascara is PERFECT for your lower lashes - something about the curvature of the brush works really well. I would say this is a lovely every day mascara, and I'll never turn down a new mascara since I wear it basically every day.

TOTAL VALUE: $129.98 !

Overall this was a super solid month for Boxycharm! Let me know what you received in your subscription service(s) this month OR what beauty products you're loving lately.

[Don't forget the promo this month: a FREE Becca Cosmetics Highlighter for signing up {worth $38 and a pretty freaking amazing glow!}]

Weekend Update: #anotherPappu

Had to HAD TO share a few pictures from a recent monumental family weekend. If you're new around here, you probably already know I have a big crazy family that is based in California (Yay Area, to be precise) but we actually spend a good amount of time together for how far away they are. Which I am very thankful for. Three cheers for more direct flights from Nashville to the Bay Area than ever, and a small amount of disposable income so I don't go broke flying back and forth all the dang time.

ANYway It's been pretty amazing getting to experience milestones (like our first family wedding) with my oldest brother, Coren, and his wife Marisol. And, of course, THE FIRST NEPHEW/GRANDKID! There's a slice of how lit our family group message has been lately.

So meet Emiliano Pedro Pappu, a little slice of my heart that is ruling the streets of Southern California. Milo is adorable and perfect and I don't know if it's been better seeing my brother as a dad (AWW) or my mom as a grandma (awww!) Her grandma name is "Mummo", which is the Finnish word for grandma, by the way, just because I'm always curious about these things.

I knew Milo and I would have a special bond since we share a birthday and guess what?? Guess who holds the bottle feeding record?! Ya girl. *claps* *applause* And you better believe I am doing soooo much "favorite aunt shit-talking" to my sisters. What a treat.

It was really just a dream to get to spend an XL weekend surrounded by family and with the days revolving around a new babe. It just feels really simple and primal, you know? I just wanted to hang out in that backyard for the entire weekend. Taking a quick break for Ballast Point, Long Beach ^^ (also my happy place- sorry that you have to see the remnants of wings but I didn't want to forget this!)

I already miss Milo SO MUCH and fortunately Marisol has a daily update going, but I'll have to be back in Southern California really soon. Which is honestly, totally fine, because LA gives me the coziest, most nostalgic, family vacation vibe.

Nordstrom Sale Wishlist

Well, I can't believe I've become one of those bloggers, but I do have a little wishlist for the big Nordstrom sale this year. I tend to shop seasonally (like, "a few new pieces for Spring" or whatever) and while I got a haul at Forever 21 at the start of the Summer, that was obviously fun, trendy pieces (sets!) that won't last long and that's fine. These items from Nordstrom are all more classic, spendier pieces, that will hopefully last for a long time.

Also for whatever reason I am being really careful about spending right now, blame turning 27, I guess? I think the right word is intentional. I'm trying to be intentional about what I spend money on, instead of mindlessly spending on things I don't need. One of my goals for a whileee has been to create a budget and stick to it, mostly because i KNOW that's the responsible thing to do and will keep my spending in check. So far this month I've been good about using Mint to track, and I'm hoping it becomes a habit going forward.

All that to say -- here's what I have my eye on, I might buy it all, I might buy none of it, but I'll keep you posted either way!

Marc Fisher Chelsea Boot
I've wanted white booties for a while now, and how f-ing cool and rockstar and Nashville are these?? Plus, comfy. I was only looking at heeled booties but these are probably super comfortable, whoami?

Golden Goose Star Mid Top Sneaker
This is when I realized there's not all that much included in the Nordstrom sale...(which makes it totally over-hyped...) but in a twist of fate, if these are included, MAYBE I will finally take the plunge. My friend Emma just told me these are super uncomfortable which makes this a totally ridiculous purchase.

Rails Sydney Stripe Shirt
I am always on the lookout for more work appropriate blouses and I hear great things about Rails!

Marc Jacobs Mini Double Pack Leather Crossbody Bag
I need a new crossbody, I love Marc Jacobs, and i LOVE backpacks! How sweet is this?

Levi's 501(R) High Waist Crop Jeans
Denim seems to be the standout of this sale. SO many great cuts, colors, and brands (though not Mother, which was a let-down.) These seem to be a cross between boyfriend and girlfriend jeans and how smokin' do they look with a mule?

Birkenstock Arizona in Black
Because I literally have thrown away all my other pairs of sandals and have been living in my white Birkenstocks. I think it's time to buy another pair!

Zella Live In Lite Crop Leggings
This sale is a good time to buy Zella leggings. I have a full-length pair that...I really do live in (I am wearing them right now) and they have held up pretty well, especially considering the price point.

Marc Fisher Zala Pump in Blue
You already know. These have been on my wishlist for a minute, but now in Fall colors? Ooh. An inky blue seems like a less obvious choice than black.

Rag & Bone Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans
Ok these are already SOLD OUT (that's what I get for not being a card carrying member) but I have linked to a very similar pair (just minus the knee holes which wouldn't be so bad.) I have debated forever about nicer denim vs. Old Navy, and this could be a cool time to try out something a little nicer. I love my rag & bone booties and I bet their denim is great too.

Sarto by Franco Sarto Topaz Flat
My little black Zara loafers are running out of time but I really love them so maybeee it's time to find a nicer alternative? I like that these are a little edgier looking than a penny loafer, but I don't like that they look more like "flats" than loafers.

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings
Honestly this is probably the only thing I will actually buy because a) they are hallowed and b) they are actually included in the sale! They also have a moto pair which look cooool but are like $20 more? These would be such a dream this Fall.

Let me know what you have your eye on in the Nordstrom sale OR otherwise this month!

When Shorts Give You Lemons

So 90% of the outfits I share on this blog are worn to the office, but hello from the other 10%!

These pictures are from my birthday trip to Florida about a month ago. Both the top and shorts are real favorites from Summer 2018 so far. I bought the top at Zara in San Francisco back in March, and I don't know if you can tell, it's like a crop top made out of sweater material, (totally brilliant!) All the dreamy 70's vibes please! I picked up this fruit twinset from Forever 21 earlier this Summer (short still available online!!) and nothing much makes me happier.

I understand it's supposed to be a bit much when worn as a set (that's like, the point) but I also like wearing the pieces separately. So fun, so comfy, and so fruity.

Life has been non-STOP since my cousin's wedding the last weekend of June. And I'm not bragging. I'm just trying 2 chill! Between weddings, outdoor concerts, friends/family stopping in town, the 4th, friend dinners, and head down insanity at work, I'm pretty worn out; but I can't complain because it's all good fun stuff. Early Tuesday morning I'm headed on a last minute work trip to Portland, and then down the coast to meet up with family AND MEET MY NEPHEW in LA. I cannot wait!

Art took these pictures on my ancient DSLR that is barely creaking along. Most of the pictures turned out like the one below, but not as *~artsy~*.
