Required reading before you read this post: the story of how I got these pants. You Can Wear Metallic Pants, 1 from earlier this week.

Ok, welcome back! So I wanted to come up with a couple new ways to my favorite & under-appreciated gold trousers (basically identical option still available.) But really, this is the same formula as outfit one, gold pants + cream tank + open dress over top. However, this version is purposely a lot more casual because of two elements: chambray (vs. a a crisp white button-up dress) and wooden clog sandals (vs. a strappy suede block heel.)

This outfit is a bit more wear to work friendly, and hopefully translates well to after work drinks at a tiki bar and maybeee one small song at karaoke later this evening, I'll keep you posted ;)

Unrelated --- I love music, but this week has been beyond even for me. I saw Charlie Puth on Tuesday, Leon Bridges on Wednesday, and will wrap up the week at Jimmy Eat World on Saturday night! It's been a little bit crazy. My family started trickling into town yesterday evening for an epic Labor Day Weekend, and my brain is halfway out the door and in long weekend mode already.

Hope everyone has an amazing Labor Day weekend! And don't forget, you can wear metallic pants!!

Be sure and check out her shop full of gorgeous, Pri-approved, handmade jewels!

Sometimes I feel like my personal style could be described as "just trying to find a way to wear metallic pants." Apart from just being fabulous and doing the most, these pants bring back some fun memories (the story of how I found them is great.) And I'm sorry to beat a dead horse, but, remember when I made the New Year's Resolution to wear more of what I loved??

So I thought it'd be fun to come up with not one, but TWO new ways to wear my favorite pants! A remix if you will! It has been a minute since I've done a remix on the blog. Oh, and these exact pants are from Topshop like two years ago, but they have basically identical ones available at Revolve now!

I think this outfit truly came about when these pants and this dress (featured as an actual dress in this post) were hanging side by side on my garment rack. You already know that wearing a button-up dress open over something else is my jam, and something about white + metallic looked so sharp to me. UPON further review...it kinda just looks like I'm wearing a lab coat? :face palm:

This is just one of the many ways having pieces visibly hanging on a garment rack can help you put outfits together! I don't know about you, but I have a tiny vintage closet and the phrase "out of sight, out of mind" has never been more true. I really do have an entire blog post about how I use my garment rack still kicking around in my brain which will hopefully come together soon!

I also have to mention that I am HERE for this white - cream - neutral color palette. I wear black all the time (obviously) but this is new for me! Something about the different light shades together feels warm weather chic, and I'll be trying it again as soon as I can manage.

Please sound off in the comments below about whether or not it looks like I'm wearing a lab coat?

Stick around for a casual spin on my metallic pants, later this week!

Is this how your mom dressed in the early 90's?!

I don't always have a vibe in mind when I'm getting dressed, sometimes it's not until I look back at pictures of outfits and it JUMPS out at me, haha. I really just wanted to wear this skirt because I haven't all Summer, and my favorite floral flats have to be paired with chambray. It's the law. How absolutely perfect is all chambray with a sunflower backdrop ?! It's like a Canadian tuxedo, but make it Summer.

This backpack has been my constant companion for most of the Summer. I rotate my "work bag" about every couple months, and a backpack has been especially handy for schlepping to and from work and transitioning seamlessly to a plane carry-on. This one is basically vintage Target, but goodness there are so many cute backpack options around {and I'm just looking at Target here... puffy / pleather / corduroy ?! goodbye also, velvet} I've also had fun "curating" (see --> collecting from anywhere) pins for the front pocket! Here we have pins from Paris, Draplin Design Co., and Yosemite, to name a few.

After MUCH deliberation, I am going to the On The Run II tour tonight with my work team. I really went back and forth on it (am I getting old?) BUT considering the original OTR tour was the best show I'd ever been to in my life, I just can't stay away.

Then tomorrow after lunch, Art & I are headed to Atlanta because Tuppy is playing a show! Also convenient that his family is there so we'll hang for the weekend. My brother Tarif is currently on tour with a band and I am so, so happy that there's a show close-by. I will definitely cry. Oh, and how's this for full circle: that keychain on my backpack is from one of Tuppy's high school formals? The flip side (that you can't see in these photos) is a picture of him and his date, SO random, and one of my life's tiny joys. Hope your weekend is special too!

How about some beauty favorites? This post is WAY overdue, as I haven't shared a list of current favorites since my Best of 2017 list (and I've become a full-on beauty obsessive.)

Here's what I've been loving lately ("lately" = the year 2018 so far.)

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Contouring Palette in Dulce de Leche
These little palettes are $5 and absolute perfection. I have the darker toned one as well, but didn't use it a lot until it became my go-to for traveling (you'll notice a trend in a lot of these products.) The banana powder is awesome for setting and this bronzer has been my go-to this Summer. Now I'm recalling a video where someone declared these palettes are a dupe for the Marc Jacobs ($50!) bronzer. So, $5 very well spent.

+ PÜR Cosmetics Bronze & Brighten palette
I'll try not to sound like a broken record - I've been living out of a travel make-up bag for the better part of the Summer. It's actually been a lovely beauty experiment - what do I actually need? What products can pull double-duty? Of course, travel sized palettes are the champions here. I originally received this in a Boxycharm and thought it was just ok, but it might be my MVP of the Summer. All three of these pack a pigmented punch. Even the bronzer, which I previously thought I would never use, makes a really nice topper for my Wet n Wild Contour Palette ^^.

+ NYX Epic Ink Liner
"Felt tip" pens are my preferred method of eyeliner, and I have tried them at all price points, from e.l.f. to Eyeko. Shout-out to Kate for recommending this one! It really feels high-end in terms of color, application, and staying power; and at $9, you can afford to stock up. Seriously, it makes a winged cat eye a snap, so give it a try if you're not super confident with eyeliner.

+ e.l.f. Cosmetics Mad for Matte Eyeshadow Palette in Summer Breeze
This skinny minny is ultimate for - you guessed it - traveling! If you need a variety of matte shades to compliment any look, there you go. You could easily create a lewk with this palette alone (that purple!), or add any shimmer you have on hand. It also lends to a very low-maintenance, 3 minute eye look on the daily - I like to use all 4 of the brown shades on the left when I over-snoozed again (every day of my gd life.) I am not an eyeshadow pro, but these make me feel like it. Just buy it, ok?

+ girlactik Matte Lip Paint in Posh
Another Boxycharm addition that I overlooked at first (another neutral matte??) but then became my most-worn lip. Something about this shade is the perfect halfway point between a neutral and a color. The formula really is fantastic, I'm talking, re-apply once mid-day & you're good. Here's what it looks like on me!

+ Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer in C8 and C10
I don't have an opinion on Tarte Shape Tape because I've never used it, but I'm SURE it's as great as everyone says it is. I just can't see myself spending $27 every time I need a refill (and concealer is basically a daily product.) I CAN say that the alleged dupe by Makeup Revolution is pretty good! It's one of those even if it's not an exact dupe, it's $7 (!!!) so I will sacrifice a bit of quality. I wear the shade C8, (medium skin with a golden undertone) but C10 also works for me in the Summer.

+ Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighter in Botanic Dream
I know you already know (and if you don't know- stop EVERYTHING and get your hands on this product in Precious Petals & Crown of my Canopy) but I wanted to highlight (lol!) this specific shade, which seems to only be available on the Wet n Wild site. I bought several shades and initially was like pinky, ok whatever, but this is actually a pink and LILAC DUOCHROME and absolutely gorgeous. For all the purple girls!

+ ColourPop SuperShock Shadow in Frog
I was so excited to try out some ColourPop products after hearing so much hype - and these shadows are TOTALLY worthy! The only word I can think to describe this formula is mousse-y, these are meant to be patted on with your finger, and they go on beautifully with so much payoff. Frog is a subtle rainbow glitter (I have gotten so many compliments when wearing this), and my favorite of the three I bought. I also have Telepathy which is a cool as hell metallic chartreuse, and Weenie a stunning rose gold. This is honestly some of the best eyeshadow I've ever used and I am very proud of myself for not already buying like 10 more shades, though I want them all. Btw - $5 off your first ColourPop purchase!

This bronzer is a YouTube vlogger favorite and for good reason - the formula is super creamy and blends effortlessly to give you that envious bronzed glow, and it smells like a tropical vacation! They recently expanded the shade range from TWO to FOUR (not great to still not great.) I ordered this online and went back and forth, but Deep is pretty perfect for my skin tone. If your skin is much darker than mine, I don't think this will work for you, but hopefully they will release a darker shade soon!

+ Morphe 573 brush
Probably my favorite of the Morphe brush set I bought for my birthday. I didn't realize how badly I was missing a fluffy crease brush in my life! Seriously, try a bigger brush next time & blend your cares away.

+ e.l.f. Cosmetics Beautifully Precise Airbrush Stipple Brush
I'm still not a contour pro, and I'm always trying new brushes to achieve that perfect chiseled look. This brush has been my favorite lately, because I find that the stipple always cancels out my heavy hand. It's also the perfect size to fit right under my cheekbone.

I promise this post will be shorter next time but I HAD to get it all out!

If you have standouts in your current beauty routine, don't keep them to yourself! Share them with me in the comments below, please & TY!

So this is my birthday dress! I loved wearing it with heels and glitzy earrings and a "sleek" ponytail to my birthday dinner, and I couldn't wait to re-style it. This look is intentionally on the other end of the spectrum. I'm giving you Summertime hipster, I'm giving you patio beers after work, I'm giving you 2018 American girl.

I've been super into wearing ALL my trainer/tennis/sneaker type shoes lately (I guess we all have, it's called fashion, look it up.) Comfortable footwear - what a novelty! Althoughhh I wore these last week walking all over San Francisco and honestly they were not super comfortable. Unfortunately they do not come in half-sizes and I am a very true 6.5. But I'm seriously considering trading these in for some more comfortable white kicks. This is NOT the answer but I also recently saw a set of engagement photos that featured a babydoll dress + platform Supergas and it was EVERYTHING to me. So.

What elseee I apologize for doing the obnoxious blog cape-y jacket thing but I couldn't help it! The mood was right. I can't recommend anything more than a vintage oversized denim jacket (ok, it does not have to be vintage but I kinda love the distressing on mine.) Literally every single travel selfie I take features mine!

Since Adriane and I no longer work together (as she is *admirably* pursuing her creative passions) we've met up a few times in the evening to shoot. The super cool thing is, we can meet up literally anywhere, so you'll see some new parts of Nashville around here! We shot these in The Nations, on the West side of town. Though, ironically - this building looks exactly like our brick office that served as our former default backdrop for pictures (here, here, here, and here.) It just feels like home!

And if you're here for a personal update...I haven't been home at all since we got home from the Bay Area and tomorrow we are going to Chattanooga to stay at the Dwell Hotel for Art's {belated} birthday! Bye!

I had to share a few photos from my sister's 30 birthday this past weekend! We helped her throw a theme party on Saturday night, and you know there are few things in life I love than a theme party.

SO the theme was: 13 Going on 30! Isn't that genius? I can't take credit, it was her idea. This involved: dressing like we did when we were 13 (OR when Carina was 13, in 2002, jury is still out), instant messenger screen name nametags, Capri Sun cocktails, lots of vintage school photos, flip phones that my mom had in our garage (? that garage is a GOLDMINE of Livestrong bracelets and middle school yearbooks and loads of other treasues) chokers/butterfly clips, and my crowning glory: this playlist

My other contributions were: the "photobooth" [Target plastic tableclothes, pro tip!] and a paper banner of course that didn't make it into any of these photos.

Let's unpack my outfit a little bit? I felt 100% authentically 13 year old Pri: half-bun (so I only had to straighten half my hair), Fall Out Boy t-shirt (actually mine from the early '00s, found this in the garage), a bracelet/necklace stack, a cut-off denim mini skirt, and green tennis shoes. OH and the only make-up I wore was: glitter lip gloss, lots of blush, silver/cream/light eyeshadow all over, a coat of mascara, and lots of eyeliner/smudged mascara under the eye. That's what physically pained me walking over to the party.

The Polaroids are ripped straight from my Insta (that I'm posting on again, I guess? It's just so STRESSFUL idk how you guys do it) and includes my twin brothers that I am obsessed with who were there in full force.

And I had to include one photo from the streets of SF because I LOVE SAN FRANCISCO so much ! What is better than meandering to and from the Caltrain station on a sunny day? Nothing!

But seriously, the party/entire weekend was so fun, I am still recovering (I slept pretty much the entire way back, which is a big deal for me since I can NEVER sleep on planes. I'm not bragging, it sucks) & I have been super bummed since leaving all my sibs & the Golden State :( I just love the Bay Area & my family so much! And Art who was an MVP, even while I was in my "blackout party planning mode." HBD Little Peanut!!

Seen / Heard / Worn / Etc. #2

Priya the Blog, Nashville lifestyle blog, Nashville lifestyle blogger, Seen / Heard / Worn / Etc. Summer 2018, ban.do hot sauce case, The Staircase, 2 Dope Queens, book reviews, Sharp Objects
SEEN //
+ The Staircase | So much good TV premiering this Summer! This docu-series is about one of the most notorious cases in modern American history (right?) and interestingly, was extended and re-released by Netflix. I would say the first half-ish lived up to expectations, but it dragged a bit at the end. If you watched it, sound off in the comments below (please! My bf & I have gotten in many fights about this!)

+ Sharp Objects | I was sooo excited about this HBO limited series adaptation from the book by Gillian Flynn. This series has somehow been darker than the book, if possible, but imo, SO well done. I'm not watching for the book vs. TV comparison, and really, it's been years since I've read the book so I can't remember everything anyway (and I prefer that, actually!)

+ 2 Dope Queens | Guys I have been SLEEPING on 2DQ. I may have listened to a random podcast episode here and there but have you watched the HBO special?! Jessica and Phoebe are truly magical and I loved every second of the 4 part special on HBO. [I have to mention that I love how closely linked they are to Broad City which I also L O V E.]

The O.C. | Surely I have mentioned somewhere that I am slowly watching through the entire series? This show is SO comforting and nostalgic to me, it's like a warm blanket. The nights where my only plans are to go home after work and watch The O.C. are some of my favorites right now! But for how huge of a fan I am, I have never finished the series (I almost have a complex about it) but I am finally gonna do it!

+ All the books I've read since last time | Ready Player One, The Help (re-listened), In a Dark, Dark Wood (listened), I'll Be Gone in the Dark and I'm in the final stretch of A God in Ruins. If I were to recommend one of these, it would probably In a Dark, Dark Wood (if you haven't already read The Help.) be My reading goal for 2018 is 18 books, and I'm currently at 12!

HEARD //
+ Still Run - Wet | I've been quoted as saying "Don't You [Wet's debut album] got me through 2016." I was soooo excited about this release, and though the second album hasn't hit me in quite the same way, it's definitely worth the listen. Listen to: Lately - this track could've been on Don't You, imo!

+ Clean - Soccer Mommy | She first grabbed my attention because of this delightful stage name, on a Spotify Indie mix playlist (I'll be honest - I do a lot less "discovery" of new music than I have in the past.) I gave this album a try, and it became my go-to work album for two weeks straight! Also cool that she is a Nashville native who gets to open for Kacey Musgraves on select shows of her tour next year! Listen to: Cool, maybe more upbeat than the majority of the album, but still so angsty.

+ Everything is Love - The Carters | This is just really good, you guys (I am so not a music reviewer of any kind BUT I know what I like!) I read the comment somewhere that it sounds like they just had fun making music together and didn't worry about it being on the charts or whatever, and it totally does feel that way! Listen to: 713, sample yourself, genius!

Electric Light - James Bay | I'll be honest, I just mentally threw James Bay in a category with like, Hozier and George Ezra and didn't give him a second thought. But I really like this album! It leans more towards BØRNS and less towards Vance Joy, does that makes any sense at all? Does anyone understand me? Idk. Listen to: In My Head, which has ironically, been stuck in my head for weeks.

+ twerkout now | If you're wondering what keeps me motivated when I workout, this is it! I try to keep it trim and tidy (and perfect for 30 min Bikini Body Guide workouts!)

P.S. Let's connect on Spotify!

WORN // I'll keep this short since the majority of my shopping was detailed in a birthday round-up post!
+ Zara dress | I bought a few things at Zara around my birthday & the blush linen Reformation-y dress has been a favorite this Summer! I wore it to my actual birthday dinner & last week (outfit post to come!)

+ metallic loafers | I once had a pair of gold loafers that I literally had to throw away - these have replaced those and are such a fun, comfy, work shoe! *Outfit post here*

+ Project 615 t-shirt | This is a local t-shirt company that has many wonderful Nashville designs, but I've had my eye on the 90's Country one for a while and finally got it!

ETC. //
+ hot sauce iPhone case | I know I've mentioned it before, but I have to say again how much I love my iPhone case. It doesn't fit in any of my purses, but it makes me happy every time I see it & I always get compliments!

+ carrot chips | This is so random, but I am a chronic snacker and one of my favorite foods (not snack - overall food) is CHIPS. In an attempt to eat less junk, I've switched to eating hummus with literal carrots in chip form, and it has blown my mind so I wanted to share that with you.

+ Marimekko bedding | I love any and all things Marimekko, and this happy duvet cover has been on my list forever. Well, I've only had my current duvet for less than a year, but this was included in the Nordstrom sale! Isn't it the most fun? Excited to use the pillow covers if the duvet ever becomes too much (never!)

Please share your current favorites with me below! xo

Here you can very clearly see a) how blonde my hair is and b) how GOLDARN humid it is these days.

I mean - can you just feel the Southern Summer late afternoon humidity wafting through your computer screen? That's about right. Adriane & I shot these in her neighborhood in what was really a funny afternoon that concluded in us meeting a new neighbor in hopes of borrowing a metal detector...I kinda live for those afternoons, or evenings, or days; where you wake up and just don't know what the day will hold.

A year ago I never would have worn this voluminous/long of a pant with flat shoes because of all these rules I have for myself about proportions with my height, but: I am totally into this. I'm getting some Scandinavian vibes! These pants are from Zara over a year ago, but the style is not exclusive (several similar options in the widget above.) They're pretty much the coolest thing in my closet at this point, though not without seams !

And just because it's top of mind for me (and has been on my to-do list forever) guess what was set in motion this week? My 10 year high school reunion. Have I ever mentioned I was vice president of my Senior class? Or that that I peaked in high school? ;)

Hope you have a beautiful weekend, whatever you're getting in to! I was out of town back to back with house-sitting this past week, so I am ready to be HOME in my own space again. Thank you for your support of this little blog, whether by reading, commenting, taking photos for, or simply encouraging (this includes alllll the jokes, fam!) <3
