Maxi dresses are one trend I have all but avoided - they always feel too long for me, even if they're the right length! But I am v v v into a 70's style floral maxi dress. Maybe it's the musical theater in me, because it really feels like wearing a dramatic costume and I'm here for it. Calling it a "maxi dress" feels wrong, but, let's call a spade a spade.

I inherited this one from my Mom, straight out of 1979, and I had a dark floral maxi on my Fall wishlist. I struggled to find the perfect one to fit the vibe I was going for, maybe a little witchy, must be worn with booties, then I saw this one on Instagram at a local boutique. I always find something (or somethingS) I like at Vinnie Louise, so I try to stay away!

I wanted this look and shoot to feel very Fall, but, as I'm posting these and it's officially the Christmas season (hello) this dress actually translates nicely!

Also hiiiii from the Bay Area as I'm wrapping up the last week of my sabbatical. I was here for Thanksgiving, and will split the last week between LA & San Diego with my two older brothers. This month went by quickly, as I knew it would, and really felt more like a long vacation than anything else (but I suppose that's what it IS, not sure what else I thought it would feel like.) The difference between a vacation and this sabbatical is that I have convinced myself it is totally fine to have some downtime and not be maximizing THE ENTIRE TIME like I normally do on vacation. I have lots to share so stay tuned for that :D

I don't need another floral maxi dress, as I actually picked up another one in India that I wore on Thanksgiving, but I'm kinda obsessed with that Opening Ceremony one in the widget.

Oh - this title is a nod to Settler's of Catan, which we have been playing a LOT of over the past few days. I hope you all had a wonderful, cozy Thanksgiving with your loved ones, it's my favorite holiday!

Adriane & I spent a day shooting before I left for sabbatical, both for blog lewks & to catalog her new jewelry, all for sale now! You can see it in some of these pictures. And it would make a lovely Christmas present! We shot these in a field just outside her studio.

500 points for anyone who can tell me where the title of this post comes from!

I'm sorry to sound like a broken record but all my fashion inspo lately comes straight from my 5 Things I'm Excited to Wear for Fall "wishlist" but at least I'm like predictable shopping with a plan!

This print satisfies my "new animal print" category. Have you ever seen a full-sized tiger print?! But really, quirky or not, patterned skirts have been one of my favorite things to buy and wear ever since I realized I liked fashion. The silhouettes and waistlines and prints have changed, but my love of skirts has not. I found this one at J.Crew Factory for a total steal. That's one of those places where they practically give things away if you catch them on the right day.

I hope it does not look like I am wearing a black t-shirt because honey, this is cashmere. "Sweater tops" (as I always call them but not sure what the proper name is) or just, short sleeved sweaters, are an absolutely essential transition piece! Even if you're into full-blown Fall, they are a much more festive and cozier option to layer with. More sweater tops here.

Also! Tbh! These shoes are amazing and very Blair Waldorf but they are surprisingly, even with a block heel, very uncomfortable and I can only wear them for a few hours at a time. I'm kinda obsessed with their nautical cousins that I've included in the widget.

P.S. This post is pre-scheduled because I'm on sabbatical right now. If all is going to plan...today I'm traveling from India to Finland. Full itinerary here and real-time updates on insta/Twitter!

Seen / Heard / Worn / Etc. #3

Seen Heard Worn Etc., favorites, music, books, shopping, movies, reading, podcasts, TV,
SEEN //
+ A Star is Born | I knew nothing about this movie going into it, but it blew me away! I can't stop thinking about both Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper's performances, the music (haven't been able to listen to since) and how well they made it current. I cried many tears and wanted more closure. TW: suicide.

+ Dancing Queen | I was SO excited about the Netflix premiere of this show, featuring my favorite Drag Queen, The Grand Dame Diva of the South, Alyssa Edwards (who I saw perform last week!) I downloaded it all for my travels and have been rationing it out, but it is a true delight. If you're unfamiliar with Alyssa Edwards herself, this is very much a mash-up of Dance Moms and RuPaul's Drag Race, minus the drama between queens, though she does bring a few friends on.

+ Ozark | Art & I needed a new show to watch together, and this had been recommended by everyone. We've only watched the first season so far and I absolutely loved it. This feels to me (and I know I will make some enemies saying this) like a better version of Breaking Bad. Similar subject lines, but with characters I like more and can therefore invest in. Jason Bateman is fantastic.

+ Whitney: Can I Be Me | Woah I finally watched this on a plane and I would like to have a long conversation about Whitney Houston. Such a beautiful soul with a tragic story. This film is very intimate and so well-done, and several of her performances brought me to tears. I've always been a fan, but watching this really solidified her in my mind as one of the GOAT.

+ The Bling Ring | How has it taken me forever to see this?! This story is so fascinating to me. I don't want to spoil anything, but I was really tickled to do some YouTube research after and learn they filmed in Paris Hilton's actual house AND the inspiration behind Emma Watson's character.

HEARD // P.S. Most of the tunes are on my Spotify, let's connect!
+ Fall MF / This playlist has been on heavy rotation. It includes my favorite new releases (Venice Bitch - Lana Del Rey) as well as discoveries (Phoebe Bridgers - thanks Miles!), and favorites of Autumns past (Wet, Jenny Lewis, Jimmy Eat World.) Listen to: Venice Bitch - Lana Del Rey bc it rawks.

+ Hanging Out & Relaxing | Hate to just share a straight up Spotify playlist, but this is a great blend of new Indie tunes you'll like and a few you know and love. It makes a great companion for things like packing and journaling. Listen to: the amazing Indie cover of Truly Madly Deeply.

+ Honey - Robyn | A true new release, and the world rejoiced! I'll be honest I've only listened to it a few times, but damn if this isn't what the world needed in 2018. Listen to: Honey, we love a title track.

high school dreamz | My masterpiece. I couldn't find a playlist that perfectly encapsulated the music I loved so much in high school, so I made my own and it's prettty fun and nostalgic! Listen to: all of it!

+ Slow Burn/Dr. Death | Two podcasts I've listened to lately. I'm not a huge podcast person, and I pretty much only listen to true crime. So I was feeling very high brow and proud of myself that I was listening to Slow Burn, a political podcast, though, Season 2 is as salacious as politics come and basically true crime as well. Dr. Death is done by the same team as Dirty John so I was pumped, but it fell a little flat for me. Still worth a listen especially if you have a commute/travel.

WORN // Fall is my favorite season to shop for and boy did I! Mostly revolving around my 5 for Fall list.
+ purple high-top Vans & platform Supergas | Been living in them since I got 'em (worn here & here.)

+ Tiger print skirt | I could not stop thinking about it and it fit my "new animal print" requirement.

+ Long floral maxi | I found one! At local boutique Vinnie Louise. It's sold out, but outfit pics to come.

+ Old Navy | I placed an order after a while, and got: this suede skirt (worn here!), these velvet slides, these track leggings I'm wearing IRL, and after trying 20 pairs, kept these jeans.

+ ASOS Dresses | I've talked about these a bunch, but to keep it on record: black smock (worn here), striped smock (worn here), tiered smock, this dress in grey & blush, and this gingham dress I can't wait to break out next Spring.

+ Tony Bianco booties | New Fall means new booties. I looove this pair I was targeted to buy at Nordstrom. They are perfect!

ETC. //
+ Earny | I'm sharing this with you because it's genius and everyone needs to sign up. Tbh , I do get some sort of kickback (?) if you sign up, but I am so so glad my sister turned me on this. Basically -  Earny tracks price adjustments online for you. Ever purchase something and then notice it goes on sale shortly after? The worst! But like, who can keep track right? Earny does it for you! You DO need a credit card that has this feature, but otherwise, it's completely "fix-it-and-forget-it." Earny takes some small cut and you get automatically reimbursed on your cc statement. Couldn't be easier! Sign up here!

+ Califia Farms Pumpkin Spice Latte Cold Brew | I love Califia Farms products - I use their almond milk coffee creamer all the time, but I came across this cold brew randomly while grocery shopping and had to try it! It has been such a delicious treat this past month, and a great cheaper & "healthier" way to get your pumpkin spice fix.

+ Bikini Body Guide | I know I have mentioned this here before, but I have to give another shout-out after just completing the BBG for the 5th time! This cult workout plan by Kayla Itsines lasts 16 weeks with 3 circuit workouts/week; arms, legs, full/body abs. The gist is that you do 4 exercises in a circuit as many times as you can in 7 minutes, same thing with 4 different exercises for 7 minutes, and then repeat.  Reasons I love this workout plan: it is QUICK (30 minute workouts), it lives on your phone & is easy to follow & motivating to swipe through, it's a full-body workout, you can modify the exercises and do it pretty much anywhere (I have done this in my parents backyard), some* of the exercises are actually kinda fun, and I have definitely seen results (not weight loss, but tone, for sure.) You do have to purchase this initially, I believe it's around $100 (and I'll be honest, my sister bought it and shared it with me) but then you have access to it forever! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone. It's not easy, but definitely doable for everyone, modifying it however works for you.

Please share your favorites in ANY category (literally this covers everything) below!

By the way, I'm not really here right now, Namaste from India! I'm on sabbatical for the month. To follow along with exactly where I am and where I'm going, check out this post.
