September Boxycharm Review

Who's ready for a fresh crop of new Boxycharm products from September??

ICYMI: Boxycharm is a subscription service that sends you 4-5+ full-sized products for $20/month. Usually more in the cosmetic realm, but has also included skincare, nail polish, body lotion etc. I've received many ~*prestige*~ (as they say) brands like Tarte, Smashbox, Becca, Lorac, IT Cosmetics & more, and the retail price of ONE item pretty much always covers the price of the box. If you're a make-up lover, I don't think you'd be disappointed with a Boxycharm subscription!

September's theme was "Wildflower", though I was hoping it would be more of a Fall preview. And I'll be honest, sometimes I totally half-ass these reviews, but this time, each product has been given a fair trial. I've thoroughly tested each product multiple times! Read on for reviews.

+ Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Smokey Eyeshadow Palette | retail value: $35
I don't dislike this palette, however: as you can probably tell, it is cool-toned as hell! Who is doing a cool-toned eye look right now? I had to force myself to use it a few times, when what I really wanted was a warm smokey eye. I was able to do a couple simple looks I liked ok, but I don't see myself reaching for this over my other palettes. However, if you are looking for a cool-toned smokey palette, I think this is a great option.

+ Alamar Cosmetics Ojitos Brush Trio | retail value: $18
I generally think you can always use more brushes, and especially eye brushes. Maybe it's because I'm lazy. But realistically, once you use that fluffy crease brush ONCE in a cool-toned smokey eyeshadow palette ^ it's done until you wash it. I like these brushes, especially the fluffy one (which I need to wash.) I also think it's cute that we got the Alamar palette (which is, honestly, one of the best things I've gotten in Boxycharm) and now the matching set of brushes! Love a set!

+ Laura Gellar Blush-n-Brighten Baked Blush in Tropic Hues | retail value: $28
This is a beautiful product and certainly the most expensive blush I own. It's less of a pigmented blush and more of an overall glow. I think it's perfect for when you don't have time/space for blush and highlighter, because it's a pretty good hybrid. I love blush,  and especially this time of year. So I would have preferred something more seasonal, but this will be nice for next Summer!

+ Luscious Cosmetics Angel Eyes Primer | retail value: $14
Honestly I rarely wear a dedicated eye primer, because I use a face primer and then prime my eyes with concealer as well. But for when you have an very special eye look you want to last all night...an eyeshadow primer is an extra step that will help. I've used this a few times and been pleased with how my eyeshadow has lasted. One thing to note, it is a flesh tone instead of being sheer, which could be bothersome if you have very fair skin. I have an old crusty tube of eye primer that I can probably throw out and replace with this!

+ LORAC Cosmetics Pro Matte Lip Color in Cabernet | retail value: $19
I was so excited about this! It's a deep wine shade that couldn't be more perfect for Fall (here's what it looks like on me.) This type of "pen" makes application easy and pretty flawless, because it's almost like a lipliner and lipstick in one. I will say I absolutely love this color, and the formula is great, for a few hours. It is not the best long-term lipstick, I have worn it on a couple long nights out and it has balled up. Something to keep in mind!

TOTAL VALUE: $114 !
