Any kind of series I keep on my blog is a "series" in the loose, loose sense of the word.
Maybe I'm somewhat lazy and uncommitted when it comes to blogging. But when I think about blogging "goals", my first one is longevity. To keep that first goal, I think everything about blogging needs to stay fun, enjoyable, inspiring, etc. or what's the point? Is that my disclaimer for maybe doing this once and forgetting it? Possibly. I'm hoping it's more my disclaimer for continuing this as a series without any regularity, rhyme, or reason. That works for me.
I am trying to enjoy every day. I don't want to look too far ahead, or "work for the weekend." If there's one thing I've learned going from college to 8-5, it's that you need those little "spice of life" things to keep you feeling inspired and excited about daily life.
One of my resolutions for the year was to "never complain" (hugely unrealistic, but why even give myself an out to "complain sometimes?") I am working on it! I've been feeling a little blah this week and I'm not sure why. But I do know that a way to combat the blahs and keep feeling inspired is to think about what's making me excited right now. Though hardly revolutionary, that's my idea behind collecting a "Thankful Thursday." I've read that a gratitude journal is a great way to realize how much you have, and I do have one of those in my nightstands, but I like the idea of publishing it on my blog.
Plus I would love to hear/enjoy what you are thankful for today!
Here's what I'm thankful for today:
1. Dance Blast with Deb. - I've been trying to stay consistent with going to the gym, and the best way I have found to do this is by varying my workout! I found this class a few weeks ago at the Y Downtown, Deb is the sweetest, most un-assuming Dance Blast instructor of all time. But girl can shake it and get in yo face (in a kind way.) First class we danced to "Get Me Bodied" and I was hooked.
2. But if I'm being honest, I'm thankful that we're thiiiiis close to a long weekend. - That will include sleeping in, a boat day, and Hunter's friends in town (at least I'm not hosting.)
3. Great breakfast/lunches at work. - Pellegrinos and smoothies are tiny little wonderful pick-me-ups.
4. Anniversary gifts. - I got Hunter some new cologne that he then realized he desperately needed, a fancy shaving set from The Art of Shaving, and a coffee table book about beer! I love buying gifts. And of course, getting them is wonderful. Hunter ordered us a custom bottle of wine with our picture on it, and he said he wants to help me decorate my new bathroom which is so cute I almost cried.
5. My friend David. - I say I've felt "blah" this week, but I should add that my good friend David was in town and that was such a highlight. We decided, "Old friendships never get old." He stopped through Nashville traveling around the country (#DavidsgreatAmericanadventure) which I am SO thankful for! We ate hot chicken & turnip greens, hiked at Percy Warner, got a beer at Robert's Western World, drove through the loud Southern night with country music blasting (<-- that sounds silly but it is really nice.) Love you, David! Thanks for coming!
7. New pink Moleskine journal. - I ran out of journal, naturally took a couple weeks off, and then treated myself to any one I wanted at Paper Source! A trip to that store is a gift in itself. But I'm very pleased with my next edition, which begins "When we last left our heroine..." because I just can't resist dumb stuff like that and no one but me reads it anyway! Usually.
Ah, instantly feeling a little luckier about today.

This is adorable Priya! I think it's important to remember what you're thankful for. I hope you continue these :)
I've had a few journals in my life but mostly just write once a year on average or a few times a year. I have a few journals from when I was a kid and this last one I've had since I was 13. I'm SO close to finishing every page and haven't let myself buy the fancy one of my dreams until I've finished it. Yay for a new pink one!
I write stuff like that in my journal also! I always write "Meanwhile, back at the ranch" which is a reference to something my singing teacher once said seriously and I found it hilarious. And it's like I'm referencing it all the time to myself, in my diary which only I read - like a "you had to be there" moment with myself. WHAT a dork. Who cares it makes me laugh. I'm thankful for so much! I love my job, my friends, the opportunities I get... I'm one of those annoying people like in love with their own lives. I try and step back and appreciate everything all the time. xx
I don't think there's any harm in experimenting with your blog schedule and finding what makes you happiest - in fact, I think that's the best way to do it! You could do this once a week, once a month, or once a year, or just whenever you randomly want to share what you feel thankful for. I promise that we'll read it and enjoy it, whenever you write it :)
Dance Blast class sounds like such a fun way to stay in shape! I should give something like that a try. Your anniversary gifts sound so sweet, very thoughtful on both of your parts. I agree that old friends never get old, and new journals are something I'll never stop getting excited about!
A few things I'm thankful for today: my mom patiently listening to my (many) thoughts and guiding me through a shoe shopping expedition yesterday; my dog being in great health at the age of 13 years, 11 months, and entertaining us every day; my boyfriend telling me "I just want to spoon and watch Moonrise Kingdom with you. Really bad," instead of just saying "I miss you." Thanks for encouraging us to reflect on these :)

I DO THE SAME THING! I always feel silly having "inside jokes with myself" in my journal, but then I figure I'm the only one reading it, so I'll know what I mean. Ha, how fun!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one!
Definitely not annoying. I love that you are "in love with your life" that is inspiring!
I never responded to this! These are such great answers, they make me thankful for you!! Your mom sounds like an absolute gem (those Finnish aiti's, amiright?!)
