Head to Toe Remix #2: Leather Jacket

Happy Wednesday, everyone! It’s time for this week’s installment of the Head to Toe Remix- and the name of the game is outerwear.

{Just in case you missed the intro to this remix} I’m teaming up with Elana of Room 334 to re-wear neglected items in our closet, from the top down! Last week we both chose an accessory that needed a little love (me- a Summer scarf, Elana- a statement necklace) so, first read that post

Welcome back!

To address the obvious about outerwear right off the bat: yes, we’re in the dog days of Summer. But yes I spend the entire year dreaming about Fall. And yes, I can’t even look at a blanket scarf in my house right now without breaking into a sweat, BUT- my office, which I get dressed for every day, is an entirely different story!

If you live in a super hot/humid area you can probably relate; when you’re outside, as little clothing as possible (or required) is essential, but so is a long-sleeve layer for as soon as you step inside any air-conditioned building.

SO- I took a look at my closet, and this motorcycle style leather jacket jumped out immediately as something I once “had to have”, purchased, and have worn maybe twice. Nothing about a black leather jacket says “Summer” so I turned to the Pinterest, per ush, to brainstorm how to wear a leather jacket for Summer.

The answer was a resounding “florals + maxi skirt!” And a floral maxi skirt…even better. (More Summer leather jacket Pinsperation: here here and here.)

This skirt is a total vintage gem that I, for some reason, only get around to wearing about once a season (last Summer's look.) I love how this outfit came together as something funky, that I wouldn't ordinarily pair together; and the proportions of the slightly cropped jacket with the wrap maxi skirt were just right. It feels tropical, but a little rough around the edges.

Elana totally has some tropical vibes going as well; in her sandals and all white-ensemb, topped with the envious army green utility vest. I wouldn't typically gravitate towards a vest like this for Summer, but she definitely made it seasonally appropriate with the color palette and footwear. Looking good girl!

What's your secret to styling outerwear for Summer?

Thanks for tuning in, & thanks to Elana for linking up with me! We'll reconvene next week wearing an overlooked top.
