Hi! Summer is off to a great start. Though, I suppose today is technically the first day of Summer?
Either way!
On my birthday (when I last posted) Art & I flew to Los Angeles for celebrations! Both for me and my nephew Milo (same birthday, celebrated on different days.)
We had a lovely few days staying in Silverlake, hiking the reservoir and Griffith Park, venturing to Venice Beach for most of a day, drinking lots of good coffee, sitting in a lot of traffic ;) AND in an act of providence, stumbling upon a Mara Hoffman (my favorite!) sample sale. Yes the no buy is still in effect, yes I took this chance to snag this dress that I've had my eye on forever + this purple swimsuit, both purchases covered by the souvenir and birthday present for myself clause? Idk. I'm not perfect but I've done a pretty dang good job at my no-buy so far.
On Friday we headed to Long Beach to kick off Milo's birthday festivities! My brother and sister-in-law pulled out all the stops for his party on Saturday - bounce house, all girl mariachi band, their taco guy* (*yes they have a preferred taco guy they use for all their events) a tented backyard, several costume changes for Milo, etc. It was a beautiful day and just so special to be celebrating him with my whole family in Coren's backyard. Which worked so well for a big party, I told him I wanted to have my wedding reception there. We'll see. I'm not planning a reception anyway! Not yet.
But seriously - what a party! My siblings and I look around bemused and I asked my mom what we did for MY first birthday party. She said "Hmm, maybe nothing!" Ha. Ha.
I've been spending a lot of time with babies! I keep saying I'm going on a "newborn tour" and I'm not even joking. On Sunday I headed to THE OC to spend a really lovely few days with my girl Jacqui and her gaggle of babies. Jacqui recently moved to Orange County so getting to be part of her worlddd for a bit and squeeze and chase after kids was very fun. Not to mention spending time with a best girl friend! It still kinda blows my mind that I'm hanging out with a high school girlfriend while her kids run around in the background, but, here we are! Life comes at you fast.
After a very quick turnaround in Nashville, I headed to Florida to meet another baby, Jenae's Scout, who is already a very tall champion baby and amazing sleeper. Haha. I really do feel like "how do I have so many baby friends all of a sudden?" It was really awesome to get to hang with Jenae and Daniel for the first time since they moved to Florida last Summer.
Now I'm back in Nashville for another minute before my next adventure. If none of this sounds conducive to working full-time...I think I have an entire separate blog post I'll write about that.
