I had to share a few pictures from our Memorial Day weekend in Kansas City, KANSAS (we learned to be particular about that very quickly ;) because it was very fun. We landed in a tornado, picked up the most ridiculous rental car of all time (pictured) and went straight to have BBQ - our Kansas initiation.

My sister Carina's boyfriend Michael is from KC and his family is all based there (are you following?) so we happily accepted the invitation for a long weekend. It may seem like a somewhat random connection, but I think these indirect extended family friend situations are one of the most special things in life. "The more the merrier" is one of my life mottoes! Plus I got to visit TWO new states in one weekend, always working on that unofficial state list...

So! What did we do? We ate a LOT of BBQ, like, until we each worked up the courage to request something other than BBQ - Jack Stack, Arthur Bryants, Gates* (*a pit-stop on the way to the airport, but Art & my favorite!)

Saturday was a huge day. Kicked off with a run with Amir through Michael's parent's totally gorgeous neighborhood - can you SEE those wide streets with tree canopies everywhere!? We loved it. I guess I had preconceived notions about what Kansas would be like, but it was really lovely. Anyway we saw the sights - WWI Memorial & Museum (you know, for me, the buff, but it was Memorial Day after all!), drove through Mission Hills in all its' glory, then on to Boulevard Brewing, where I could have honestly spent all day, into downtown, to Michael's sister's pool, and back to downtown. Like I said it was a D A Y!

Sunday was very low-key and I must point out the neighborhood block party that we stumbled upon where firefighters were spraying a hose for the neighborhood kids are you kidding me. My sister said it best in her Insta story caption, "BRB moving to the suburbs."

Overall a lot of laughs, a lot of meat, and seriously the best hosts we could have dreamed of! Thank you Michael's family! Ok KC, you got me. We'll be back <3

And now it's officially Summer! It's gearing up to be a good one :)

P.S. Two thumbs up on this swimsuit whose maiden voyage was this weekend. Comfortable, cute, lined and didn't ride or bunch...would totally buy it in another color (if I was allowed to?!)
