2015 Resolutions

Happy New Year, everyone! I feel like I haven't blogged since last year...(sorry, that's my favorite joke. I can't help myself.)

A lot has happened (in everyone's lives!) since we last spoke! I made plans to be very on top of things around here, but they didn't work out so well. Stay tuned for many pictures from #palohaChristmas2014, and some of my favorite perfectly Priya moments of 2014. But for now, while the year is still fresh, let's talk resolutions, shall we?

in case you forgot what I look like ;)

I've experimented a couple different ways with making resolutions that stick. I think, like most, I make goals with awesome intentions, that fizzle out realllll quick. This year, I made a list of things I want to be able to check off every month. They're pretty simple, really, but I find myself to be extremely motivated by lists and "checking things off" (not always a good thing.) It is my hope that this list is simple enough to remember and achieve, and powerful enough to make my life the best yet in 2015. Without further ado:

Every month in 2015, I want to...

1. Go on a "trip." - Some months I will actually be traveling, but even a day trip would satisfy this.
2. See live music. - Likewise, I don't plan on attending a stadium tour every month; but this is one of Nashville's best "natural resources" that I want to take advantage of!
3. See one family member. - This keeps me going and from getting too homesick. January might be difficult though.
4. Make a one word motto. - I love this idea, let's see if I can do it! Living by one word or thought for the month seems like a bite-sized, doable, resolution. Still finalizing January's.
5. Host a dinner, party, or dinner party! - I'm ready for this! There is something so simply pleasing about having people over, and cooking with friends. Really wanting to have themes, though not essential.
6. Read one book. - This has been on and off a goal for the last few years. I go through seasons where I'll read four books in a month, and then go months without reading. I'm trying to do a little bit every night to stay consistent.
7. Write one letter. - Making and sending cards is one of my favorite things to do! And I want to do it more consistently.

As far as blogging goes, in case you're wondering (because sometimes I have a few "blogging resolutions") my only goal is: enjoy it and don't quit doing it!

I'll also note: though these resolutions are more "checkable" actions (aka, not super deep) I do have some thoughts for the year surrounding relationships / spirituality / attitude / finances / wellness. I would be more than happy to discuss any of the above with anyone interested!

If you're interesting in reading resolutions from years past: 2014 // 2013
(One of my favorite parts of blogging is getting to keep track of my life like this!)

I would love to hear any resolutions you've made for the year, or any experience you many have in accomplishing similar things to my goals!

Hope your 2015 is off to a fabulous start, and THANKS for being a part of mine.

I like all your monthly goals and definitely think making them "check-off-able" will really help. The idea of the one word motto sounds interesting; hope you blog about it as you finalize each month.

i love the idea of setting a bunch of monthly goals at the beginning! i especially love the one word goal and the letter one. i'm thinking about signing up for happy mail to encourage me to send more mail in general. a letter can be daunting, but sending a pretty card with a cute note only takes a second, and it can totally make someone's day.

can't wait to see everywhere you go and everything you do in 2015!

Not familiar with happy mail?

& I agree. I write a lot more cute cards than letters, but hey, still counts!

I would like to say that throwing classy ass dinner parties and fab and even if they aren't fabulous, wear a poofy skirt and call it a damn day.

These are wonderful monthly goals Priya! They seem really doable too which is important. We're the same with reading. I have spurts where I read a lot and then nothing for months. I want to start reading before bed instead of being on the computer. I scour the book section at every Goodwill collecting favorites for my collection but I don't read as many as I used to growing up.

I like the idea of writing letters too! I used to write with several friends growing up and I miss that! Great ideas girl!

HA. I love this idea. I threw together a dinner on Friday...it wasn't super fancy, but I guess it counts!

I am trying to read a little bit every night before bed, and definitely instead of getting on my computer/phone. That's supposed to help you sleep better too!

Thanks so much! Honestly, I think the key here is just picking a good one. Not an "easy" one, necessarily, just one that is easy to remember.
