What a year it has been. 2021 has been such a rollercoaster...so many fun memories, lots of "firsts" post 2020, re-connecting with friends and family, and personally, some amazing milestones. BUT that alongside a lot of disappointments, the general wtf-ery of the state of the world, COVID absolutely still a factor, and feeling overwhelmed by all of that. What can we do? Keep moving forward the best we can. On a difficult (more emotionally than physically tbh) run recently the mantra "just keep putting one foot in front of the other" popped into my head and has stayed with me over the last month or so. And that's what I'm gonna do!
I'm not going to go through my complete list of goals for 2021 bc: boring but I crushed some goals this year! I'm not feeling super motivated at the moment to be perfectly honest, so, that's something.
I don't have a lot to say about this outfit either, but I will say this has been my favorite coat lately and I'm reminded what a great find it was (from my Target haul - Jan 2021). Otherwise though this is a really simple look, I like it and feel like it's an accurate representation of my style right now. Also a great reminder that good accessories can go a long way!
So, let's take a look at what I'll remember from the past year.
- We cancelled our wedding that had been rescheduled for April in Mexico.
- I turned 30 in June - and had maybe my most special birthday celebration ever in Key West.
- Other cities visited in 2021: Chicago, Asheville, San Diego, Palm Springs, Vero Beach, Seattle, San Luis Obispo.
- I started therapy, and wow, it has been transformative in my life. And also, very uncomfortable.
- Art turned 40 in July and we trekked to Glacier National Park - I'll remember this trip forever! [I will blog about it, eventually because I really want to.]
- My brother Coren & sister-in-law Marisol welcomed TWIN BOYS in November - new nephews!
- I did more acting work this year than I ever have before (by quite a bit actually.)
- In May we hosted a bunch of my family for the weekend in Nashville, which is my happy place!
- In October I had the incredible opportunity & learning experience of getting to star in a film I wrote!
- My precious bud Amir married Kylie in November - not the weekend I expected, but so happy for them.
- Shout-out to the many hustles I had this year: nannying, teaching line dancing lessons, & freelance social media.
- As of this month - I wrote my second script and submitted it to a screenwriting contest.
- I completed Level One of an improv class! Went back & forth on this but had so much FUN and learned a ton.
- I started Invisalign in April and had a gum & bone graft in June.
- Some days I just feel like a full on dog mom. We started an Instagram for Piper & Ginny!
- Favorite things to wear: high-tops, mom jeans, ^ this leopard coat, white cropped jeans, platform Chelsea boots, teal flannel, velvet heels, Target sweat sets, sailor/suit shorts, Amazon joggers, Stan Smiths, velvet leggings!
- Favorite beauty products: Mauve for Me lipstick, L'oreal Lumi Glotion, Jaclyn Hill 2 palette, Essence mascara, Makeup Erasers! Physician's Formula palette, Maybelline Liquid Lipstick, Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
- Favorite shows/movies: Mare of Easttown, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Love Island, Insecure, The O.C., Derry Girls, Siesta Key, Ziwe, Drag Race, I May Destroy You
- Favorite books I read: Long Bright River, Then She Was Gone, The Wife Upstairs, Three Pianos
