I'm back! Then again, did you notice I was gone? I had planned to get a post up before I left, but turns out the days leading up to my trip were super busy and I left pretty much frazzled to the max. I somewhat considered blogging while I was home but dropped that idea pretty quickly.
I was so excited to head home with Hunter as my guest for sorta an "adult Spring Break". The main reason we went was to see my younger brother Tarif perform in Shrek the Musical, but with lots of family and friends to see, the long weekend filled with plenty of activity. I mean, plenty. I don't think we stayed at the house for more than a few hours the whole time.
Thursday I went to the dentist, we met up with Galina at SCU, had an Indian dinner, Jenae + Steph came to hang in the evening (and I laughed for about 4 hours straight), then we picked up Amir at the airport!
Friday Hunter & I went for a long hike around Lake Chabot with my mom and Galina. We rushed home, got our hair done at DryBar (fab.), then it was time for dinner and the show!
Angel Island was dubbed "the Ellis Island of the West" because it was a pit-stop for many immigrants coming to America in the early 1900's. I loved looking through the dormitory-turned-museum and imagining...if these walls could talk. [ALSO I would like to apologize for anyone I have mistakenly/jokingly told that my family came through Angel Island. I think it stopped being used for immigrants in like 1930.]
Not sure if you can tell how sweaty and almost grumpy I was in this picture because Hunter made me hike to the top of the island. The view was worth it, though.
So I know this is such a #bloggerprob but I'm really proud of myself for going on a long weekend trip and packing like I was going on a weekend trip. I carried on only, thought out what I would need/wear for each event, and stuck to it! And I don't feel like I sacrificed style. I know what you're thinking, pics or it didn't happen. Well, it just so happens I took a few outfit pics because CA boasted the most beautiful backdrops AND I thought it would be helpful in future packing for you + me! Stay tuned for that, starting this week!
lastly: HAPPY {belated. because I'm the worst} BIRTHDAY to my sweet Huntee and my great friend Steph, who are both celebrating {yesterday}! I love you guys!

Tarif did an incredible job! He kinda stole the show, then again, I'm somewhat biased. I was SO proud of him and also so thankful I was able to see him perform. And how about that costume??
Saturday Amir, Hunter, mom & I took a ferry from SF to Angel Island. It was the most beautiful day, my favorite city, and some of my favorite people. Made for an awesome time.Angel Island was dubbed "the Ellis Island of the West" because it was a pit-stop for many immigrants coming to America in the early 1900's. Mom's tulips are blooming and I have a new lens.
Sunday we went to church, had one last run, and one final awesome meal before we headed back to Nashville. Ahh warm California weekend, I miss you already. So I know this is such a #bloggerprob but I'm really proud of myself for going on a long weekend trip and packing like I was going on a weekend trip. It sounds like you had quite the busy weekend in the beautiful Bay! I couldn't believe how hot it was there last weekend. Definitely wasn't expecting that! I didn't even wear my coat or scarf and left enough room in my suitcase to bring home two new pairs of shoes in their boxes. Not-overpacking for the win!
I've never seen Shrek the Musical but I bet it was hilarious, especially with your brother in it! Good times spent with family and friends is the best :)
thank goodness you didn't pack the cold weather stuff so you could fit your new shoes! yay!!
Good recap lady! Looks like you had a jam packed weekend & lots of fun!

I just stumbled upon your blog while looking up other Nashville bloggers. I love this post! I recently visited San Fran for the first time. I didn't go to Angel Island, but I visited Alcatraz and was OBSESSED with it! I love it there! And I blogged about it too. :) http://www.thenashvillianblog.com/2014/01/a-california-vacation-day-2-san.html
