You guys. I think Valentine's Day might be my favorite holiday. Not for the classic, mushy, my Valentine is the best, high expectations, reasons; I mean, I feel like I haven't had a actual Valentine for all that long. I remember the first time a boy got me chocolate/flowers/etc. for the holiday, and I thought "Oh yeah...this is what's supposed to happen. This is awesome!" Since that day, I've had some ok Valentine's Days, some good ones, and some not-so-good ones. I think I've learned that the best way to enjoy the holiday is to make it more about doing stuff for people you love, instead of expecting things.
Also- why wouldn't I love a holiday about pink, red, hearts, and glitter? I'm pretty basic in that sense.
Spoils from Target. They had e v e r y t h i n g !
First batch of cards. How cute are those cupcakes?
I've spent a good part of the last couple days with glitter all over my hands, making cards, and wrapping up treats (and eating a lot of them myself!) I don't claim to be an artist in any sense, but I love making cards. I could literally sit on the floor of my apartment and do it for hours. I was so giddy collecting supplies, wheeling out my craft cart, and putting together Valentines to send to my best girls, near and far (and Huntee.)
A sure-fire way to make sure your Valentine's Day is NOT a disappointment- show everyone you love them! Recent events in my life have really, really reinforced this. Don't take anyone you care about for granted.
February will actually be loaded with opportunities to show people I love and care about them. January was somewhat of a slow month for me, but this month is stacked! After I return from Austin, the next weekend will be spent celebrating two friends getting married (and possibly Sundar coming to visit? I hope??) The weekend after that is Amanda's bachelorette party and bridal shower, which we are busily planning away! So, cliche as it may be, my word for the month is: love.
Since I'm headed out of town tomorrow, I've been running around like a little cupid trying to get all my Valentine's Day errands done, and, it's been a blast. That's why I think it's my favorite holiday.
Do you have any Valentine's Day traditions to share? What's your favorite way to show someone you love them??

I don't do anything special for Valentines day. Your card turn out super cute.
Wow, this is so cute! I love that you make these cards and give them to people you love... I somehow understand a little now whats the deal about Valentines Day. We do not really celebrate it here in Germany and I never got the total sense of it (I always thought its just another reason for people to get gifts and have a good excuse to spend lots of money and stuff like that). This year I am actually going on a Valentines date for the first time ever. But by accident - my husband and I made a reservation for a dinner out in our favorite Thai restau on Saturday without even noticing that its Valentines that day :)
xx
I enjoy Valentine's Day too and always have, even when I was single. Growing up, I always used to get some sort of present from my parents. It was usually some piece of jewelry and one of those giant Hershey's Kisses. How can you ever hate Valentine's Day if THAT'S what you're used to. :)
I love Valentine's Day too, but I hope one day I can fully appreciate it when I'm in a relationship! I want to do all the lovey-dovey stuff! Love those cute cards you made!!

I LOVE VALENTINE'S! and this year i get to meet you for Valentine's Day! HOORAY!
I have never been spoiled on Valentine's Day :( My boyfriend is the only guy I've been with on the big day but since he doesn't do holidays, V-Day is just another day. Our first V-Day together was just three weeks after we dated. I was excited to finally celebrate the holiday with a man. He asked for the day off work but our boss wasn't happy we were dating so she made me work from 2-11. I still wanted to do something so I rushed out of class, ordered a pizza to pick up at a place across the street from our work, walked down to the Coffee Bean and got him a Chai Latte which we ordered on our second date, and surprised him in the parking lot by his truck during his lunch break. I had to ask a coworker to make sure he went out to his truck instead of just eating inside! She ended up telling him his car alarm was going off. He had a truck made way before car alarms! We drove back to his house and had pizza dinner and listened to the cheesy mixed tape I made for him. So at least I've celebrated once! haha
I am the worst on V-Day because some years I am SUPER into it but the others I'm all DON'T YOU MAKE ME CELEBRATE MY LOVE.
Priya this is super-cute! I too love Valentines Day for exactly the same reasons as you, I love having an excuse to tell everybody I love them. Also, craft supplies - super adorable! I love the image of you sat on your floor just covered in glue and glitter and paper (I mean this is what would happen to me, I'm sure you're much tidier!! ) xxxx
I love Valentine's Day because of the candy. I mean, there just aren't enough candy-related holidays...we only have Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. I can't hoard enough candy to make it through a whole year with just 4 measly holidays!
I may or may not be working on a bag of Hershey's Kisses I scored on sale at Target...that's pretty much my tradition :)
That is a memory you guys will love forever, for sure!!
No, this is extremely accurate :) :)
